Workwear challenge at Marshell’s

Guest post from The Layz Blonde

Thank you so much Kayla for sharing your article with us!!!

If you’re like me, you spend a whole lotta time in business casual workwear & by a whole lotta time, I mean 5 days a week. So Jen (my trusty assistant, photog, drink holder, longest friend, the list goes on…) & I set out to do another challenge. This time we headed to good old Marshall’s with a budget of $150 to get a WHOLE WEEK OF WORKWEAR. Let me tell you…this was a challenge! (I feel like you guys like a good scene setting, so let’s start there) After filling our bellies with mojitos (Jen) & martinis w/cotton candy (me) and lunch, we took the long walk across the parking lot to Marshall’s. It was then we decided we needed bubble teas cause you can’t go into Marshall’s to tackle all of the woman’s wear without a bevy.
After we grabbed a cart, it was time to get down to business. We just started by grabbing anything we thought was cute and then found a spot to look through everything to see if it made sense. Here’s what we came up with…

Monday-I like to start my work week with comfy pants because let’s face it, I probably had a cheat meal over the weekend. These black drawstring pants felt amazing and so soft. The top I grabbed to go with these is probably my fave of them all, was this beautiful white and black bell sleeved piece. It can be worn off the shoulder, but felt comfy the way I’m wearing it, which is more office appropriate.
Top: Grand & Greene $16.99Bottoms: Ellen Tracy $19.99

Tuesday-aka my least fave day of the week (I know that’s mean to have a least fave day, it’s just Tuesdays are always the busiest day of the week!) I went with these GORGEOUS cobalt blue pixie pants (that actually have a textured pattern to them) & a sheer white tank that had white flower appliques. (full disclosure, I didn’t have a tank to throw on underneath this, but you def need one!)Top: Micheal Kors $19.99Bottoms: Rafaella $19.99

Wednesday-back to comfy pants cause the week is long…! To go with these this time, I picked a really cute white cap sleeved polka dot top. This top was so cute and the perfect length for a front tuck.Top: Zac & Rachel $14.99Bottoms: repeat from Monday

Thursday-grabbed these cute linen pants-that felt like pjs & paired them with a similar shade of blue soft top. The pants would look really cute with a white tank or tee tucked in and a statement necklace.Top: Ellen Tracy $16.99 Pants: Land N’ Sea $16.99

Friday-phewww, we finally made it to the end of the week! And in my office that means jeans. So I opted to wear the jeans I had (Amazon) and found a few different tops, but the one I loved most, was this grey one with a front zipper V-neck detail.  Top: Green Envelope $16.99Jeans: mine hehehe (I had to sneak my own jeans in to make budget…)
Grand total for the week…$142.92
And how fun is this…my coworker and friend Jenica bought the blue pants, so I made her pose for a pic (fun fact: she takes a lot of my work OOTDs!) so you could see how she styled them. She paired them with a black tank and a black blazer that has a fun leather detail!

What look was your fave? I love doing these challenges and have another fun one up my sleeve, but I want you tell me what you want to see in the comments!! Let’s chat,
